BATON ROUGE, La. — Days after St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes lifted burn bans following recent local rainfall, the State Fire Marshal followed suit via social media.
According to the SFM, the statewide burn ban which initially went into effect on Aug. 7 before being modified on Sept. 27, is rescinded as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Louisiana residents are reminded the only legal items allowed to be burned is vegetation and ordinary yard waste, such as leaves, tree branches and grass clippings.
Items not allowed, include:
- Plastic and other synthetic materials
- Tires and other rubber products
- Paints, household and agricultural chemicals
- Asphalt shingles, heavy oils, wire
- Newspaper, cardboard and other paper products
- Buildings and mobile homes
