Teen arrested after striking motel worker in the face with a gun several times, Slidell police say

Officers said they found the teen holding a gun when they arrived to local motel.

SLIDELL, La. — A teen was arrested, and a man was injured after the teen struck them in the face with a gun several times, according to the Slidell Police Department.

Police arrested a 15-year-old following the incident at a local motel on Tyler Drive Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, they saw the teen holding a gun and "engaged in a physical altercation with one of the staff members."

The teen dropped the gun and ran when officers tried to confront them, but he was caught several blocks away. 

"Officers soon discovered that the staff member was physically struck in the face several times with the firearm by the juvenile during the altercation, sustaining several injuries as a result," Slidell Police said.

The teen was charged with Aggravated Battery, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile, Resisting an Officer by Flight, Possession of Narcotics, and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon During a Crime of Violence.

The incident remains under investigation.
