House Majority Leader Steve Scalise calls for new leadership at Secret Service

NEW ORLEANS — House Majority Leader Steve Scalise delivered a brief speech Tuesday highlighting the upcoming election considering Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

From foreign policy to energy, Scalise gave a rundown of the policies he says Trump and Republicans will uphold if the former president is reelected.

“We will lock down the border and yes we will finish building the wall,” proclaimed Scalise.

Scalise also addressed Saturday’s shooting. Back in 2017, he was the target of a politically motivated shooting during a capital baseball practice.

“Not many know that while I was fighting for my life Donald Trump was one of the first to come and console my family at the hospital.”

Scalise is also calling for new leadership at the Secret Service. Meanwhile, several investigations are underway into what led up to the shooting.
