Nadine Ramsey beats Jackie Clarkson for District C seat

NEWORLEANS- Nadine Ramsey has defeated Jackie Clarkson for the Algiers-centered City Council District C seat.

A former Civil District Court judge, Ramsey, whose last bid for public office was running for New Orleans mayor in 2010, was able to beat her opponent, Clarkson, who has a long history serving District C.

'Today was a sad day for the city of New Orleans. I will miss her (Clarkson),' said Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who had endorse Clarkson.

A longtime public official, Clarkson, who had served District C in 1990 and 2002, most recently was elected as a council member at-large in a special election in November 2007 and the re-elected in Feb. 2010. Clarkson was termed out at for the at-large seat.
