NEW ORLEANS — You have five more days of early voting and depending on where you live, you have other issues on the ballot besides the presidential election. For Orleans Parish residents, that includes affordable housing.
Residents would vote on a housing trust fund. It would provide city dollars each year that would go towards the Fortify Roofs Program, improving infrastructure of homes and reducing insurance costs.
If it passes, it would guarantee two percent of the money from the city's general fund to be re-allocated to affordable housing efforts.
That includes $17 million by 2026.
