NEW ORLEANS — Voters in Orleans Parish decided on two Home Rule Charter amendments. The first was for the city to create a Housing Trust Fund, aiming to help aid the affordable housing crisis.
It would dedicate an amount equal to 2-percent of the General Fund to the trust, which would fund affordable housing, rehab and renovation projects, and provide funding for affordable rental assistance and other housing needs.
The second proposed charter amendment focused on Workers' rights. It put forth a Workers Bill of Rights and the council said it was symbolic in standing against anti-worker policies and treatment in Louisiana.
