Both the parish president and sheriff's races top the ballot in Jefferson Parish. Cynthia Lee Sheng, John Young and Lee Bonnecarrerre are in a three-way race for parish president. Incumbent Sheriff Joseph Lopinto is defending his seat against John Fortunato and Anthony Bloise.
Seats on the Jefferson Parish Council and a Justice of the Peace position is also up for grabs.
In any race where no candidate tops 50% of the vote, the top two vote-getters will face each other in a Nov. 16 runoff.
