NEW ORLEANS — Update: The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as 39-year-old Roderick Thompson on Tuesday, April 23.
Police in New Orleans are investigating a homicide in the Lower Ninth Ward.
According to an initial New Orleans Police Department report, it happened at about 1:04 a.m. at the corner of St. Claude Avenue and Gordon Street.
EMS was dispatched but when they arrived, they found the male victim, later identified as 39-year-old Roderick Thompson, with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead on the scene.
Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim once an autopsy is complete.
