METAIRIE, La. — A popular donut shop near the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is open again after a fire in July damaged the building.

Joe's Cafe reopened Nov. 4, more than three months after closing their doors indefinitely to repair the shop.

“We are excited to rejoin the Metairie community, once again,” says James Armand, owner of Joe’s Café. “We wanted to finish the repairs as soon as possible, but we needed to do it right.”

He described the repairs needed as "extensive."

The fryer at Joe's Cafe in Metairie sparked the blaze early in the morning, according to the Jefferson Parish Fire Department. The local chain posted to their Facebook page confirming the temporary closure for repairs.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which authorities say took about 30 minutes to extinguish.
