Louisiana State Police investigating bomb threat at the Capitol

BATON ROUGE -- A person of interest has been detained Monday night after a bomb threat at the Louisiana State Capitol building, according to State Police.

Around 6 p.m., state legislators began reporting via social media they were being evacuated due to a bomb threat.

State Police said bomb technicians are in the building to assess the situation.

LSP Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson said in a press conference with WBRZ said a man was detained after approaching police.

"During this process is when the gentlemen came over to the Department of Public Safety police right down River Road and said he was the one that made the phone call."

Edmonson also told reporters State Police would continue to investigate in order to ensure the man was the same person who made the threats
