BATON ROUGE, La. — A church shelter in Baton Rouge needs help finding a woman's family, who is unsure of her identity.
Our partners at WBRZ said the woman first identified herself as Jane Doe when she entered St. Agnes Church seeking a place to stay in October.
Sandra Smith, a community service educator said it has been difficult getting the concrete information she needs about Doe's identity and medical condition, before she can find her a place to live permanently.
Smith contacted our partners in hopes someone might recognize her.
"This lady right here didn't know nothing, she tried and tried to give me all sorts of information and I went everywhere searching for the help she said she had in other places, no one knew her and no one knew the name she gave me," according to our partners WBRZ.
The woman has spent three months at St. Agnes church, while most clients stay at the shelter for about three weeks.
Smith said the woman provided several names to her and other sisters at the church, including Brenda Lee Jones. The woman said she could have ties in New Orleans, Mississippi, Little Rock, Arkansas, or Jackson. She also mentioned she could be adopted.
Our partners at WBRZ said the woman told Smith she has a daughter named Regina who lives in Mississippi and remembers little about her work history.
However, this Jane Doe has expired her time staying at the shelter.
"I don't want her to sleep under the bridge, or die, and I am scared that's going to happen to her if no one is there for her," Smith explained to WBRZ.
If anyone has information about this Jane Doe, call St. Agnes Church or contact Smith at 225-475-1245.
