Bonnet Carre Spillway reopened after temporary closure due to fog, traffic moving slowly

Closure prompted by fog concerns, officials say

NEW ORLEANS — All lanes of the Bonnet Carre Spillway have been reopened after a temporary closure Tuesday due to fog.

The fog prompted traffic issues across southeast Louisiana along heavy commuter roadways.

The closure happened around 9:50 a.m. and reopened about an hour later.

All lanes are open on I-10 West at Mile Marker 217 (Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge). Congestion has reached Mile Marker 219 (Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge).

I-10 West is closed to traffic at Mile Marker 217 (Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge) due to dense fog. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route. Congestion is minimal.
