NEWORLEANS- Well-known criminal defense attorney and activist Gary Wainwright was sanctioned Friday by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
The Court's Office of Disciplinary Counsel found that Wainwright failed to communicate with his clients, mishandled his client's money and engaged in conduct intended to disrupt a tribunal.
Wainwright is now suspended from the practice of law for 18 months.
Wainwright ran unsuccessfully for Orleans Parish criminal court judge and Orleans district attorney.
