KENNER, La. — Residents in Kenner will have Waste Pro as its garbage collection and transportation service, replacing IV Waste, city officials announced Thursday.
A 7-0 vote by the Kenner City Council agreed to have Waste Pro collect garbage and the council said recycling and drop site management services "will continue to be provided by Ramelli Janitorial, Inc."
Officials said the need for a new garbage collector contract came after a letter was sent to Kenner's Mayor Mike Glaser last year on Nov. 27, stating IV Waste would terminate its contract and service in March 2024.
In a news release Mayor Mike Glaser issued this statement:
“The City of Kenner has had a contract with Waste Pro of Louisiana since 2020 for waste tire processing and the performance has been flawless. In addition, Waste Pro has a number of contracts with nearby municipalities and parishes in the State of Louisiana. I have spoken with administrators in many of these government entities, and all have spoken highly of the level of service that Waste Pro provides with no complaints. I look forward to the excellent garbage collection services coming to the City of Kenner and am confident that our residents and business owners will not be disappointed,”.
According to Nola.com, "under the terms of the agreement, Kenner customers will pay $18 per month for Waste Pro’s services — a 35% increase from the rate of $13.28 that IV Waste is currently charging."
Waste Pro indicated they will start cart delivery next week.
Each cart will be tagged with a service notice containing instructions about cart placement and contact information for any questions. Waste Pro will also mail instructions to the residents and business owners in Kenner prior to the start of services on March 1, 2024.
