'Walking Dead' actress, New Orleans native to attend rare autograph signing in hometown

The signing is Saturday, June 22.

METAIRIE, La. — Despite spending the last 13 years as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Loyola University New Orleans, star of TV and film Ann Mahoney has kept a rather low profile locally. But on Saturday, fans of Mahoney will have a rare chance to get up close and personal with The Walking Dead star at BSI Comics in Metairie.

Mahoney, best known for her role as 'Oliva' in AMC's long-running post-apocalyptic Zombie series, says she is looking forward to meeting TWD faithful at the autograph signing this weekend.

"Just come out and meet me, I love to talk to people," the 2020 Catalina Film Festival best actor winner told WWL Louisiana. "I love to hear [their] perspective on the show, what you love and what you want to know about behind-the-scenes stuff. I love sharing that."

Aside from the TWD series and her award-winning role in The Other Side of Night, Mahoney's credits include Big Momma's House 2Same Kind of Different as MeStolen in Plain Sight, Logan Lucky, 99 Holmes, Midnight Special and Barefoot, as well as TV shows The Good Cop, Rectify and Hart of Dixie.

Currently, Mahoney is attached to the F3 Films project Fanfare, in which she wrote the screenplay.

Earlier this month, F3 Films announced its partnership with SilverScreen Pictures. Fanfare, along with A Big Easy Christmas, written by fellow New Orleans screenwriter Michael Perrone.

"I was bummed that all mid-life crisis women's movies ended with them dying," Mahoney explained. "And I love Thelma and Louise, but I was like, what if a woman walked away from her life like men do all the time in midlife crisis movies? So I, I wrote this film and, when they announced that they had the partnership, I wrote to Chuck, who was a friend, and I said, 'Hey, Chuck Bush, it's Ann Mahoney and I have a great script for you.' And he said, 'I'd love to read it' and within a week I was optioned."
