Seventh Ward triple shooting kills man: NOPD

Police said one of the victims died after he was taken to the hospital

NEW ORLEANS — UPDATE: One of the three men shot in Saturday's Seventh Ward triple shooting died after he was taken to the hospital, a statement from New Orleans Police Department's Public Affairs Division said. NOPD investigators began treating the shooting as a homicide.

Three men were shot in the Seventh Ward area Saturday, said New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson.

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon near North Tonti and St. Anthony streets.

The victims had multiple gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital, Furguson said.

Police officers with NOPD's Fifth district responded to the call at or around 4:45 p.m., and an ambulance was seen getting to the scene around 5 p.m.

WWLTV's Meghan Kee spoke to residents near the scene. One of the neighbors said his best friend was one of the victims. The neighbor told Kee his friend was shot in the jaw.

NOPD investigators were working to find out who is responsible for the shooting, but no arrests have been made as of Saturday at 7:13 p.m.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact lead Detective Brittany Kimbrough at 504.658.6050 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
