Here’s WWL Louisiana's parish-by-parish guide.

NEW ORLEANS — In your Breakdown: Independence Day is about to pop off, but there are some places where you can’t light your own fireworks. Of course, there are also places you can let the professionals handle the explosives. 

Here’s WWL Louisiana's parish-by-parish guide:

St. Bernard Parish

Fireworks are only legal for popping between June 25 and July 4th from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.

On July 5th, they can be used from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.

St Bernard Salutes America will be held July 4 starting at 5:30 with fireworks at 9:30 at the Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette. Details here.

Plaquemines Parish

Private fireworks allowed from June 25 to July 5. Details here.

Orleans Parish

Private fireworks prohibited. Details here.

Go 4th on the River fireworks begin at 9 p.m. on the New Orleans Downtown Riverfront.

Jefferson Parish

Private fireworks prohibited, except in Gretna, where they are legal from June 25-July 2 from 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. and July 3-4 from 9 a.m. - midnight. Details here.

Uncle Sam Jam is at Lafreniere Park on July 3 with music starting at 4 p.m. and fireworks around 9 p.m.

St. Tammany

St. Tammany parish allows private fireworks in unincorporated communities, but not in town or city limits of Slidell, Mandeville, Abita Springs, Madisonville, and Folsom. Details here.

Light up the Lake begins on the Mandeville Lakefront on July 3rd beginning at 6 p.m. with fireworks at 8:30 p.m.

St. Charles Parish

Private fireworks are illegal except on July 3rd and 4th from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Details here.

The St. Charles Independence Day celebration begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd.

St. John Parish

Private fireworks prohibited, except on the Fourth of July from dusk to 10 p.m. Details here.

The St. John Parish Independence Day Celebration is Wednesday, July 3rd with fireworks at 9 p.m.

St. James Parish

Fireworks are legal as long as you don’t cause any damage. Details here.

There will be an official fireworks display at Lutcher Park on July 4th beginning at 9 p.m.

Lafourche

Fireworks allowed July 3rd and 4th between 9:00 a.m. and midnight, and July 5th from 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Fireworks are banned in Thibodaux and Golden Meadow, except in Oakridge Park. Details here.

Terrebonne

Fireworks are only permitted between dusk and 10 p.m. on July 4th and outside of Houma city limits. Details here.

The Good Earth 4th of July Festival begins at 3 p.m. in Houma at Bayou Sports Park.
