LOUISIANA, USA — First, let’s start with the numbers from 2020, which saw President Joe Biden against President Donald Trump. Two million, one hundred thousand Louisiana voters cast ballots in the 2020 presidential election.
That’s about a 70 percent turnout.
Trump won Louisiana with about 58 percent of the vote.
This year, according to the Secretary of State’s available data, Louisiana saw about 66 percent turnout, with just over two million votes cast.
Trump won with about 60 percent of the vote.
Voter turnout was lower in Orleans Parish than throughout the state, at just 58.7 percent.
Jefferson Parish’s turnout was just under 64.8 percent.
In the presidential race, Democrats turned seven parishes blue including Orleans and St. John.
One hundred thirty-five thousand people did not make a decision on the statewide constitutional amendment, which still passed with 73 percent of the vote. A portion of federal funding made from renewable energy will now be donated to coastal restoration.
There is another election coming up in December which will have several constitutional amendments on the ballot.
