NEW ORLEANS — This week, the assistant inspector general in charge said USPS is taking steps to make sure election-related mail is delivered on time and securely.
“We've made significant investments in enhancing the postal services delivery security in its network, including installation of new high-security collection boxes, electronic locks, the number of measures that help ensure the security of all mail, including ballots and other election mail,” said Brendan Donahue.
In Louisiana, you must have a reason to vote absentee, and the applications for an absentee ballot must be submitted four days before an election.
If you’re going to mail your absentee ballot here in Louisiana, you’d better send it soon. Voted ballots must be received by the parish registrar of voters by 4:30 the day before Election Day.
According to early voting information… more than 96-thousand absentee ballots have been cast.
USPS says during the 2020 election and the 2022 midterm election, more than 99 percent of mailed ballots were delivered to election officials within seven days.
