NEW ORLEANS — In your Breakdown: Louisiana is lighting up! Here’s where you can catch lights this holiday season.
In Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, there’s Celebration in the Oaks, which runs from Thanksgiving to Jan. 3. The cost is $40 per vehicle for driving, and ticket prices range from $20 to $35 per person to walk through.
Downtown hotels, like the Roosevelt Hotel, the Royal Sonesta, Windsor Court, and Ritz Carlton also have impressive decorations. You can ‘lobby hop’ for free.
Lafreniere Park will light up between Dec. 1-30.
Tickets are $10 per car if you buy in advance.
Kenner’s Heritage Park also has an impressive Christmas Village running from Dec. 1-31. It’s free to visit every evening and there will be vendors and entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.
On the west bank, Light up the Huey is magical. You can catch those lights starting Nov. 29, and you can even picnic under the lights during the month of December.
And how about some northern lights? Well… Northshore light displays, that is.
Covington's 12 Days of Christmas walking lights tour is all through Historic Downtown Covington and is already lit up.
Mandeville's annual Holiday of Lights begins Dec. 6 and runs through New Year’s Eve. They are celebrating its 25th year of lighting up the city.
Slidell has Christmas Under the Stars, a very cool life-size Christmas Cottage display in Griffith Park, that also begins in December.
And of course, there are everyday people who go all out with the displays – and that Entergy bill – to put a smile on their neighbor's faces.
