What's open and closed on Thanksgiving Day in Greater New Orleans?

With Thanksgiving just days away, many grocery stores, government offices, and transportation services will either be closed or operating on holiday schedules.

NEW ORLEANS — With Thanksgiving just days away, many grocery stores, government offices, and transportation services will either be closed or operating on modified holiday schedules. Here's a list of what's open and closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.

Grocery Stores

Although many grocery stores will be closed, several will remain open but with limited hours.

Open

  • Whole Foods -7 a.m. until 1 p.m.
    • Arabella Station (5600 Magazine St)
    • Broad Street (300 N Broad St)
    • Veterans (3420 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie)
  • Rouses - 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.
    • all locations
  • Breaux Mart - 7 a.m. until noon
    • all locations
  • Dorignac's Food Center - 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
    • 710 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie
  • The Fresh Market - 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
    • 3338 St Charles Ave, New Orleans
    • 755 Veterans Memorial Blvd A, Metairie

Closed

  • Winn-Dixie - all locations
  • Walmart - all locations
  • Sam's Club - all locations
  • Target - all locations
  • Costco - all locations
  • Trader Joe's - all locations

Transportation

Transportation services will operate on a reduced schedule.

Orleans Parish

  • The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority will run on a reduced service. On Thanksgiving Day it will operate on a Sunday schedule and on Friday, Nov. 29, it will operate on Saturday schedule. Check out route schedules here.

Jefferson Parish

  • Jefferson Parish Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. View route schedules here.

St. Tammany Parish

According to our partners at NOLA.com, no bus services will be available the week of Thanksgiving.

Government Offices

In Orleans Parish, City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday. All parish government facilities in Jefferson Parish will be closed on Thursday and Friday, as well as in St. Tammany Parish.
