NEW ORLEANS — Update: (12/9/19) - Precautionary boil water advisory for parts of Uptown area was canceled Monday morning, the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans said.
The utility said tests confirmed that the water in the area was safe to drink and could be used for personal needs.
Customers who have not used their water since the boil water advisory was issued should flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their system for several minutes.

Water samples from the areas impacted by the boil water advisory in Uptown have been sent in for testing. S&WB officials believe results should come back within 24 hours.
S&WB crews have completed repairs on the water main break near Yulman Stadium late Saturday night, a S&WB spokesperson said. Crews are reopening valves that were shut off to make the repairs, returning water and higher water pressure levels to Uptown residents.
Residents without running water should call the S&WB at (504) 52WATER or (504) 529-2837.
In a tweet Saturday afternoon, S&WB officials said customers might be without water for "the next couple of days."
People with no running water because of the water main break can get some at the Yulman Stadium parking lot entrance near the intersection of S. Claiborne Avenue. and Versailles Boulevard from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday, officials said.
The water being distributed is for those without running water in their homes, officials said. People who are in the water boil advisory area but have running water should boil their water and use it.
After residents of roughly 30 blocks in Uptown woke up without running water Saturday morning, Sewerage and Water Board officials said multiple valves had to be closed to fix the 100-year-old water main break that broke Friday night.
A Boil Water Advisory remains in effect for the area, S&WB officials said Sunday. Water samples have been sent in for testing, and results are expected back before Tuesday.
Residents are asked not to drink any water even if water pressure is restored to their homes before the boil water advisory is lifted.
Here are instructions on how to handle a Boil Water Advisory:
Bring water to a rolling boil in a clean container for a full minute. If the water has a flat taste afterward, shake it in a bottle or pour it from one container to another.
Healthy adults should take the following precautions:
Washing hands: Use soap and tap water, dry hands, then apply hand sanitizer; the safest option is to wash with bottled or boiled water.
Showering or bathing: Be careful not to swallow any water. Infants, young children and disabled persons should be supervised to ensure water is not ingested. Residents with open wounds, chronic illness or weakened immune systems should use boiled or bottled water to bathe until the advisory is lifted.
SWBNO will notify residents when the boil water advisory is canceled. If you have any questions, please call 52-WATER (504.529.2837).
