Superdome goes dark in honor of late WWL Louisiana legend Eric Paulsen

Legendary New Orleans anchor died of cancer on Oct. 26.

NEW ORLEANS — Less than two weeks after longtime WWL Louisiana anchor Eric Paulsen lost his courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Oct. 26, the Caesars Superdome announced on social media that the legendary New Orleans newsman will be honored on Thursday night.

According to Dome officials, the home of the Saints and the upcoming Super Bowl LIX will go dark "in loving memory of Eric Paulsen."

The statement posted on the Caesars Superdome's official Facebook read:

"Today, we remember and honor Eric Paulsen, a beloved member of our community and a cherished friend. Paulsen was a fixture on New Orleans television for more than 40 years. Eric's warmth, kindness, and tireless dedication touched countless lives and made an unforgettable impact on those around him.

"With a compassionate spirit and a genuine smile, Eric brought joy to everyone he met. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and hard work continues to inspire us each day. Let’s carry his memory forward by living as he did – with love, respect, and a commitment to making the world a brighter place. Rest in peace, Eric. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.

"Tonight the dome will be going dark in honor of "Eric Paulsen."
