NEW ORLEANS — A streetcar and an SUV crashed into each other on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened on Canal and Norman C. Francis around 4:15 p.m.
WWL-TV's Eleanor Tabone was on the scene. Tabone spoke with a resident who witnessed the crash, saying the late-model Ford Escape with Mississippi plates turned into the streetcar.
The driver is being treated by EMS, the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
Traffic is flowing slowly and motorists in the area are urged to proceed with caution.
EMS gave updates on Thursday evening saying, “Five adults transported, one assessed but declined transport and remained on scene”.
