PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. — A stolen school bus from East Baton Rouge Parish led authorities in a multi-parish chase Friday, ending in Plaquemines Parish, where deputies apprehended a suspect.
The chaotic pursuit was captured on video obtained by WWL Louisiana, showing the bus speeding through St. Bernard Parish into Plaquemines Parish with deputies in close pursuit.
Dust kicked up from the bus’s tires as it sped down the road, followed by Sheriff’s Office deputies with sirens blaring.
Both Sheriff's Offices from St. Bernard Parish and Plaquemines Parish were involved in the pursuit.
The suspect abandoned the bus near the Belair pumping station before fleeing into the marsh, according to authorities.
The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office said it was made aware of the chase this morning and chased the suspect in the marsh using boats and aerial support.
Deputies apprehended the suspect shortly afterward. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
