GARYVILLE, La. — A fatal crash claimed the life of 32-year-old Frankie Credidio of Paulina after he struck the rear side of a trailer pulled by a Freightliner truck in Garyville, La., on Monday night.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Troop B arrived on the scene shortly after 8 p.m. and found the victim suffering from fatal injuries. Credidio, who was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, died on the scene.

The accident occurred on Louisiana Highway 44 at LA 54.

LSP investigators said Credidio was riding his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on LA 44, approaching the LA 54 intersection. At the same time, the Freightliner driven by 48-year-old Deshone Augustine of New Orleans, was traveling south on LA 54.

For reasons still under investigation, LSP claims the Freightliner failed to properly yield at the intersection and turned east onto LA 44, into the path of the Credidio.

As part of the ongoing investigation, standard toxicology samples were taken from both Credidio and Augustine and will be submitted for further analysis.

Any criminal or traffic violations discovered in the ongoing investigation will be forwarded to the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney’s Office.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation.

As a reminder, state law requires all motorcyclists must wear DOT-approved helmets while riding.
