Man killed in helicopter crash ID'd as man from Oklahoma

Ryan Lamont Cardwell, 33, died in Sunday's crash.

BOUTTE, La. -- The man who died in a helicopter crash in St. Charles Parish has been identified.

Ryan Lamont Cardwell, 33, died in Sunday's crash. Cardwell worked for a company called Air2 that was contracted by Entergy to perform services on the Entergy transmission line right-of-way where the crash occurred, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office. He was from Watonga, Oklahoma.

The crash was reported around 11 a.m. on May 20. The first two occupants found, a crewman and the pilot, were taken to a local hospital. The crewman sustained severe injuries while the pilot sustained less severe injuries, according to authorities.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Entergy released a statement about the crash saying, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims of this tragic event. We will be working closely with authorities as they investigate this accident."
