Couple sought for taking child from hospital after suspected overdose, sheriff's office says

Officers responded to a suspected overdose on Monday and the child had to be intubated at Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

NEW ORLEANS — The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a couple who they say took their 2-year-old child out of Children’s Hospital where he was being treated after a suspected cocaine overdose.

The Sheriff’s Office said Arianne Stechmann, 37, and Johnathan Kritzman, 31, both of the 2200 block of West Christie Drive in Poydras, took the child from the hospital after an emergency order granted custody to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers responded to a suspected overdose on Monday and the child had to be intubated at Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Warrants have been issued for the couple who the sheriff's office says is known to drive a white Dodge pickup truck.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Stechmann, Kritzman or the 2-year-old boy is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501, the Criminal Investigations Bureau’s tip hotline at (504) 271-TIPS or 8477, or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Callers to the CIB tip hotline or Crimestoppers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash award from Crimestoppers.
