NEW ORLEANS — St. Augustine High School announced a new head coach on Thursday.
The school hired state championship-winning coach, Robert Valdez, to lead its football team. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the school named him as the head coach stating, "Welcome to 2600."
Valdez won a title at St. James back in 2019 and also coached West St. John leading them to a state runner-up finish in 2011.
He also spent the last two seasons as a college offensive line coach at Grambling State University under Hue Jackson.
St. Aug finished last season 4 and 8. The team went winless in the Catholic League.
