Get back-to-school ready with free giveaways across the area

Families looking to stock up on school supplies can attend these free events.
In today's Impact Giveback sponsored by Morris Bart, LLC we learn about an upcoming school supply drive to help local students prepare for the new school year.

NEW ORLEANS — With school around the corner, local organizations and events are helping families get ready for the upcoming school year. Here's a list of free school supply giveaways across the area.

Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) Back to School Fest

SATURDAY, AUG. 3, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Youth Empowerment Project will have a backpack giveaway, including vision and hearing screenings for kids. The free event will also feature music, games, and free food and drinks.

The fest will be held at New Orleans East Opportunity Center at 12000 Hayne Blvd.

H.O.P.E Annual 500 Backpacks Back-to-school Supplies Giveaway

SATURDAY, AUG. 10,noon until 3 p.m.

Families can enjoy a fun day filled with free food, snoballs, face painting and more at the H.O.P.E back to school giveaway at Behrman Memorial Park. The event is free and based on a first come, first serve basis.

Berhman Memorial Park is located at 2529 General Meyer Avenue.

Greater St. Stephen Ministries Back to School Extravaganza

SATURDAY, AUG. 10, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Back to School Extravaganza is a free event helping families get students ready for school. Nearly 300 backpacks will be given away. The event will also give vouchers for haircuts and hairstyles for kids.

The event will be held at Greater St. Stephen at 5600 Read Blvd at the Morton Hall.
