Smoke from nearby marsh fire temporarily closed Highway 90 near Raceland

The closure caused delays for commuters who had to take an alternate route. State police detoured traffic onto 316 and 182. Highway 90 reopened at about 7:45 a.m.

RACELAND, La. — A potential wildfire burning near Raceland had Highway 90 temporarily closed for most of Tuesday morning.

Authorities temporarily closed Highway 90 in both directions between Highway 182 and Highway 316 due to poor visibility caused by smoke from a nearby burning marsh fire. It reopened just before 8:00 a.m. according to Louisiana State Police.

The closure caused delays for commuters who had to take an alternate route. State police detoured traffic onto 316 and 182.
