Seven arrested for gun violations at Lady Buckjumpers Second Line

Seven arrests at the second line parade came as NOPD ramps up safety efforts after recent shootings.

NEW ORLEANS — Seven people have been arrested for carrying guns at The New Orleans Lady Buckjumpers second line just days after two people were killed in a previous shooting at a separate second line.

The seven arrests came along the parade route at various locations after officers and second line attendees witnessed the suspects illegally possessing firearms.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday.

"These arrests highlight our ongoing efforts to keep Second Lines safe. We will continue to be intentional in protecting our community while honoring the culture that makes New Orleans so special," explained Kirkpatrick.

Deandre' Smith (B/M, 8-31-00) - carrying a firearm while in a firearm-free zone (school), illegal carrying of a weapon, and negligent carrying of a concealed weapon.

Antonio Marcelin (B/M, 11-25-94) - illegal carrying of a weapon, negligent carrying of a concealed weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics, and violation of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone.

Jaevail Lang (B/M, 8-3-06) - illegal carrying of a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm while in a firearm-free zone (school), and negligent carrying of a concealed weapon.

Jared Johnson (B/M, 9-1-93) - illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, negligent carrying of a concealed weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Jase Johnson (B/M, 7-14-05) - negligent carrying of a firearm and statewide permits for concealed handguns during a parade or demonstration.

Roger Ford (B/M, 10-25-04) - negligent carrying of a firearm and statewide permits for concealed handguns during a parade or demonstration.

Tahj Stores (B/M, 11-24-04) - statewide permits for concealed handguns during a parade or demonstration.

Two more Second Lines are slated for this weekend and NOPD will be out in force along the routes in addition to keeping all of the holiday and weekend events safe.
