TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — Terrebonne Parish is working to make its Mardi Gras parades, festivals, and other special events more secure.
The sheriff's department just formed the first-ever bike patrol division.
The deputies have passed a special training course and will be using specialized mountain bikes to navigate crowds and even head off-road if the need arises.
In addition to parades, the sheriff says you'll see the bike patrol officers during the holidays, patrolling shopping centers.
