Injured Derek Carr sits out against Bucs, rookie QB Spencer Rattler will start

Rookie Spencer Rattler will get his first career start in Sunday’s game.

NEW ORLEANS — For the first time in the last two seasons, Derek Carr will not be the starting quarterback for the Saints.

Carr, who suffered an oblique injury last week, will miss Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rookie Spencer Rattler will get his first career start in Sunday’s game.

The Saints have averaged 16.3 points per game during their past three games after averaging 45.5 points in a pair of one-sided victories to open the season.

Now they've turned to Rattler, a fifth-round draft choice out of South Carolina, as they try to beat the Bucs, who are coming off an overtime loss at Atlanta in which they lost the lead at the end of regulation.
