Residents allowed to return to Gentilly Terrace neighborhood following gas leak

Entergy Gas stopped the leak at approximately 11:41 a.m., and the residents were allowed to return to their homes.

NEW ORLEANS — A ruptured gas line forced approximately 17 residents from a Gentilly Terrace neighborhood to evacuate on Monday morning.

According to the NOFD, the high-pressure leak occurred around 10 a.m. at the corner of Mirabeau Avenue and Baccich Street. 

The rupture was caused while street crews were conducting road repairs.

The NOFD Hazardous Materials Unit issued a precautionary evacuation of a one-block radius of the leak.

Entergy Gas stopped the leak at approximately 11:41 a.m., and the residents were allowed to return to their homes.

There were no reported injuries.
