PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. — Louisiana State Police say a man died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Plaquemines Parish.
Police identified the man as 71-year-old Anthony Roque of New Orleans.
According to police, Roque was driving a 2019 Hyundai Sonata south on LA 23 near Songy Lane around 10:30 a.m. while a 2020 Freightliner Flatbed Truck was traveling north on LA 23.
"For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai crossed the centerline and struck the left rear side of the Freightliner," police said.
Roque was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The other driver was not injured. Investigators took routine toxicology samples from both drivers for analysis.
