Low water pressure expected in Plaquemines as officials prep for potential saltwater intrusion

The tests will begin at 10 p.m. to minimize the impact on residents and businesses.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Plaquemines Parish officials announced that tests will be conducted on the water system in preparation for potential saltwater intrusion

The tests will affect water pressure in the area from the Parish line to the Port Sulphur Water Treatment Plant.

On Wednesday, officials said they expected the tests to last for 2-3 days.

During this time, officials warn residents may experience lower water pressure, but it will not drop below 20 psi.

"These tests are essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of our water supply," officials stated.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated once further information is available.
