BELLE CHASSE, La. — After multiple forecast changes, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Thursday that Belle Chasse is no longer expected to experience dangerous saltwater levels.

It's good news for the city in Plaquemines Parish that had been bracing for the impact of the saltwater wedge for months.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made the determination based on chloride levels in the water. Anything under 250 ppm is considered safe to use and drink.
