The NOPD announced they have arrested three people in connection with a carjacking that left a woman dead after one of the carjackers ran over her with her own vehicle in a Gentilly driveway.
The NOPD tweeted that they arrested 17-year-old Jontrell Robinson on counts of second-degree murder and carjacking; 18-year-old Edwin Roy Cottrell with counts of being a principal to second-degree murder and carjacking. They also arrested a juvenile, whose name was not released, and booked that person with being a principal to second-degree murder and a principal to carjacking.
On Nov. 27, officers responded to a carjacking in the 2400 block of Prentiss Avenue. The suspect was allegedly fleeing in a stolen vehicle when he struck the victim, 49-year-old Jeannot Plessy, leaving her critically injured. She later died at an area hospital from her injuries. Plessy was a mother of two and wife of a local pastor.
Plessy had a date night with her husband, Pastor David Plessy, and was picking up their children from a relative's home in Gentilly when at least one person pulled her out of her car and tried to drive away. As someone tried to intervene, the carjacker rolled over Plessy and then drove off.
Bond for both Cottrell and Robinson has been set at $600,000.
