Brandon Ingram to return to on-court workouts following ‘bone contusion’

On Friday, Ingram got an MRI on his left knee after injuring it playing defense during a 121-106 loss to the Orlando Magic.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram is cleared to return to on-court workouts after suffering a painful bone contusion when he hyperextended his left knee against Orlando in March.

“Ingram has been cleared to begin individual on-court workouts and will gradually increase the intensity of his rehabilitation schedule. Ingram will miss the Pelicans’ next two games. A return to play date has not yet been determined,” the Pelicans organization said in a statement released late Saturday.

There is still no set timetable set for when Ingram will return to the court. The Pelicans take on the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

On Friday, Ingram got an MRI on his left knee after injuring it playing defense during a 121-106 loss to the Orlando Magic. He limped off the court in the third quarter after putting up 14 points in 21 minutes before hitting the hardwood in pain.

“It’s extremely difficult to see him go down,” Head coach Willie Green said soon after the game. “Our prayers will be going out tonight. Hopefully, we’ll get some good news.”

There is just one week left in the regular season.

Ingram played in 63 games this season before injuring his knee. He is averaging 20.9 points per game and a team-leading 5.8 assists.
