METAIRIE, La. — Parish leaders from all over Southeast Louisiana came together Sunday to ask the public to listen to their warning: Stay inside, stop the spread.
Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a “stay at home” order for the entire state on Sunday and local leaders say the wide-reaching order needs to be obeyed.
“Where was your mind a week ago? Where is it today? Where do you think it’s going to be a week from today?” St. Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis said. “Look at Italy. Where were they a week ago? We are surpassing Italy’s numbers 13 days in. Take this seriously.”
Below are the statements from the leaders of Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and Tangipahoa Parish as well as a statement from Dr. Joe Kanter with the Louisiana Department of Health.
