ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — The heavy rain swept through southeast Louisiana causing a big power outage in St John the Baptist Parish.

Entergy Louisiana reports over 5,000 residents and businesses are without power as of 6:00 a.m. Earlier at its peak, there were over 8,000 people without electricity as a line of heavy showers moved through the parish.
