NEW ORLEANS — The social media account that features video and photos of the rough conditions of New Orleans streets in a satirical fashion, otherwise known as “Look at this F#$*ing Street,” has chosen a couple to win its grand prize of a wedding in a city pothole.
The winner is none other than WWL Louisiana’s Marketing Producer Monica Resh.
She and her intended, Kevin Nguyen, will "tie the knot" in a pothole with the wedding cake and photography provided. She says they have a year to "cash in" on the offer.
"We entered the contest as a joke," she said. "But, when we won, it was kind of like, 'why not?' We had been planning on eloping and throwing a lil party for friends and family back in the states, looks like the party just got a little bigger."
The social media account wished the couple well as only it could.
“May your love last as long as a New Orleans pothole, may the sparks fly like an entergy wire, and may your cups overfloweth like the streets themselves thanks to the Sewerage and Water Board! Thanks to all who entered.”
Monica still says there are some formalities to tend to, for instance, they aren't engaged yet!
"I'm not letting Kevin off the hook that easy," she said of her longtime boyfriend.
"We're both excited and still a little shocked," she said. "We're super grateful for the vendors who are donating their time and talents to make our day memorable."
Monica is a talented marketing producer here at WWL and known as somewhat of a "free spirit."
"That (getting married in a pothole) is so on brand for her," said one newsroom reporter.
