NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a traffic fatality in the Seventh Ward Tuesday night.
According to the NOPD a bicyclist was fatally injured just after 8:40 p.m. on North Claiborne Avenue close to the I-10 entrance ramp near St. Bernard Ave.
NOPD Fifth District officers said they responded to a call of a traffic accident in the area and when they arrived they found a man and a bike on the ground in the 1600 block of St. Bernard Ave.
Police investigation reported a 45-year-old man was riding his bike when an undescribed vehicle hit the man, ejecting him from his bike and killing him.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene.
The identity of the victim will be release after an autopsy is done.
