NEW ORLEANS — They say showing up is half the battle. When it comes to showing up for school, Tyran Zardies says his mom took that expression seriously.
“She says discipline over talent a lot, because, I guess, discipline will get you farther than talent,” Zardies said.
During his senior year at The Willow High School, Zardies never missed a day of class.
“She always told me that it’s my senior year and I can push through and finish strong,” Zardies said.
On Thursday, his hard work paid off when he got the keys to a brand-new car. He and sixty other high school seniors with perfect attendance were in the running for a 2024 Toyota Corolla.
“I still don’t believe it. Like, it’s my car now,” Zardies said.
It’s a giveaway Premier Automotive Group has been doing for almost two decades now.
It’s a joy to watch their faces, and truly we try to tell them that only one winner will get a car, but all of these kids are winners,” Premier Automotive Group Owner Troy Duhon said. “If you can go your entire senior year without missing a day, that’s incredible.”
As for the soon-to-be freshman at LSU, he’s looking forward to driving to classes, chauffeuring his little sister around town, and making his parents proud.
“That’s my boy,” Zardies’ father sad. “He deserves this.”
Premier Automotive also paid for Tyran’s license plate and one year of car insurance.
