NEW ORLEANS — An RTA bus making a stop on Canal Street hit someone Saturday night, killing them, according to NOPD.
Police say the fatal accident happened around 10:18 p.m. on March 4 at the Canal Street and Elk Place bus stop at the edge of the French Quarter.
According to NOPD, the driver had just loaded and unloaded passengers and was leaving the stop when people on the street called for them to stop.
The driver pulled over and saw that someone had been hit by the bus' rear.
Police say the driver and RTA are cooperating with investigators.
No arrests have been made in the case so far.
