Protesters hold 'Justice for Palestine' rally at City Hall

Members of the local Palestinian and Muslim community gathered at City Hall in New Orleans on Wednesday to rally for humanitarian efforts and peace in Gaza.

NEW ORLEANS — As the death toll continues to climb in the Gaza Strip amid the Israel-Hamas war, members of the local Palestinian and Muslim community gathered at City Hall in New Orleans on Wednesday to rally for humanitarian efforts and peace in the Middle East.

This has been ongoing for over many years, but this is just one week," said Aishah Abdalah from Students for Justice in Palestine at UNO. "Gazans have no access to electricity, water, food. And we are here to speak our voices about this. We are here to bring people together to understand what's happening to our people on the other side of the world."

Nineteen-year-old Palestinian local Tamir Zatar also spoke with WWL-TV about wanting end the fighting.

"We all want peace, so that's what we're aiming for," he said. "So with this protest, we're just trying to spread the message and explain our side of the story.

Both the US, and the city have stood in steadfast support of Israel against the actions of the Islamist militant movement and Palestinian political party – Hamas.

People across New Orleans have feared for loved ones caught in the deadly crossfire, a seen standing together to end the bloodshed.
