Rotted AT&T utility pole to blame for Algiers power outage

“New poles have been set and 871 customers remain out at this time with restoration estimated to take place by 11 p.m. this evening,” Entergy New Orleans said.

NEW ORLEANS — Power was restored in Algiers after a rotted AT&T utility pole broke and damaged Entergy's power equipment.

New Orleans City Council Vice President J.P. Morrell said the outage was caused by two rotted AT&T poles breaking apart, affecting equipment.

When the power first went out earlier Sunday, over 1,300 Entergy customers were in the dark.
