NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department helped four residents evacuate a fire in the 7th Ward on Sunday.
It happened in the 1500 block of Marais St. Firefighters arrived at the scene just before four p.m.
The fire had already spread throughout the unoccupied house and then to a triplex next door, where twelve people live. Firefighters helped four people get out, and they were checked for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. NOFD said, "Neighbors noted the abandoned building of origin was heavily frequented by vagrants and drug users."
