Tracey's bar moving to new Magazine Street location

Restaurant owners said they plan on relocating to 3226 Magazine St., seven blocks up from their current location on 2604 Magazine St.

NEW ORLEANS — Tracey's Original Irish Channel Bar is planning on relocating to a different location on Magazine Street, adding more space for the bar and kitchen.

3226 Magazine St. which has sat empty for years, is now expected to house the bar, moving Tracey's seven blocks upriver from its current location on 2604 Magazine St.

According to NOLA.com, Tracey's owner Jeffrey Carreras said the new location will have much more space and will have about the same lease rate as the current location.

"It will be different, but this is something I've wanted to do for a while," Carreras said. "I always thought we could do more with it."

A popular spot for sports fans in New Orleans, Carreras plans to include 46 TVs for watching games and also a room dedicated to pinball machines on the upstairs floor.

The new location has about 9000 square feet of space. And the menu is also expected to expand.

Carreras said with an expanded kitchen, the bar will be able include more comfort food style plates like fried chicken. The kitchen is expected to open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, with later hours for the bar.
